Five Years of Charging Jamaica
Five years ago, Evergo began with a vision to make electric vehicle (EV) charging more accessible across Jamaica. Today, that vision has grown into Jamaica’s largest EV charging network, powering drivers across the island every day.
What started in 2021 with a charging station at LFA Country Store in St. Ann has evolved into a growing network of more than 70 charging stations strategically located across the island, including the recent addition of Morant Bay Urban Centre in St. Thomas.

In supporting Jamaica’s Transport and Energy Vision 2030 by encouraging the adoption of cleaner mobility solutions, Evergo has played an important role through network expansion, innovation, strategic partnerships and customer-focused solutions.
Evergo President and CEO, Dr Wayne McKenzie, OD, noted that the company recognised early on that building a robust charging infrastructure would be critical to supporting the growth of electric mobility in Jamaica. “The need for reliable and accessible charging infrastructure continues to grow,” he said. “Evergo has been playing its part in supporting cleaner transportation by expanding the network and making EV charging more practical and convenient for drivers across the island.”
The company now boasts an extensive network in Jamaica, delivering more than 20,000 charging sessions and supporting over 300 active users. Evergo also introduced the fastest chargers in the country, capable of charging from 0-80% in as little as 15 minutes and has helped to avoid more than 325,000 kg of CO₂ emissions locally since inception.
Evergo charging stations can be found at supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, shopping centres, business hubs and other key destinations across Jamaica, allowing EV drivers to charge while going about their daily routines.
Beyond charging infrastructure, Evergo has also remained committed to sustainability and community engagement. These efforts have included launching the Evergo Secondary Schools Robotics Competition in 2021; hosting Jamaica’s biggest EV meet-up, EV Link Up, since 2022; supporting National Tree Planting Day initiatives; and participating in International Coastal Cleanup activities.

Evergo Marketing Manager, Melissa Newman, said one of the most rewarding parts of the journey has been watching electric mobility become more visible across Jamaica. “It’s incredible to see more EVs on Jamaican roads today and to watch drivers confidently charging with Evergo. Just a short time ago, this was still very new for many people, so being able to see how much the landscape has evolved has been exciting for all of us,” she commented.
As Evergo celebrates its fifth anniversary, the company is also focused on the future. With a projected 20% network expansion planned for 2026, Evergo continues to focus on growing its network and improving convenience for EV drivers across Jamaica.
“Electric mobility continues to evolve in Jamaica, and Evergo remains committed to growing alongside that movement,” McKenzie added.
