Mexico City, August 31, 2023 – Recognizing the need to go beyond the design and production of electric vehicles to achieve their sustainable goals, Volvo Cars announced an alliance as part of its electrification strategy with Evergo, the most extensive and sophisticated electric vehicle charging station platform in the region. The aim is to accelerate the connection of cities and provide customers with access to a broad network of alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) chargers in Mexico and LATAM.

This collaboration will result in the installation of 2,295 chargers over the next 3 years, of which 803 will be superchargers, offering users greater range freedom in Mexico.

Thanks to this significant agreement, 2,213 kilometers of tourist routes throughout the country will be connected. Chargers are currently installed on the Puebla-San Luis Potosí Corridor, and by the end of 2024, new routes such as Mexico City-Acapulco, Guadalajara-Puerto Vallarta, Tijuana-Ensenada, Mérida-Cancún, and Monterrey-McAllen will be connected.

“Each of the actions we implement is a firm step towards connecting cities. We not only want to promote our goals; we are beginning to make them a reality by offering an infrastructure solution that enables the mobility of users who have chosen an electric vehicle,” emphasizes Raymundo Cavazos, CEO of Volvo Car Mexico.

“This alliance is leading us towards an increasingly promising horizon for electric mobility in Mexico. Through this shared commitment, we ensure that in a short period, a greater number of users can enjoy the benefits of more sustainable mobility, supported by the most advanced technology on the market and the confidence needed to reach the country’s major destinations without worrying about running out of charge,” added Daniel López, Commercial Director of Evergo Mexico.

The alliance between Evergo and Volvo will also extend to Latin America, allowing Volvo users in each country to access the charging network available in Mexico, Jamaica, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.

“By 2025, we are committed to having half of Volvo’s vehicles fully electric. Our mission is to care for people, future generations, and the environment, and electrification plays an essential role in achieving this goal,” reiterates Raymundo Cavazos, CEO of Volvo Car Mexico.

Since the launch of the Volvo XC40 Recharge in 2021, Volvo has provided a charger to each of its electric vehicle customers, which now represents nearly 800 domestic charging network chargers.

Additionally, the Swedish company also collaborates with VEMO, a cleantech with an innovative model that integrates the entire clean mobility ecosystem, and they have agreed to position 70 chargers in shopping malls and universities.

The inclusion of the NACS-type connector on Volvo electric vehicles will begin to be effective next year, allowing all Volvo brand users to use Tesla chargers throughout North America. Customers in Mexico will have access to 660 chargers, of which 60 are state-of-the-art superchargers.

Volvo is leading the transition to an electrified world, pioneering agreements that will form three charging networks consisting of more than 3,000 chargers by 2025, including around 870 fast chargers, providing users with greater freedom of safe and personal mobility.
