Caribbean Electric Route promotes electric vehicle travel in Dominican Republic, Aruba, Jamaica and Puerto Rico
- The initiative is led by the Latin American Association for Sustainable Mobility in partnership with Evergo and the Dominican Electric Mobility Association.
- This project is part of 5 electric routes organized by ALAMOS: Central American Electric Route, Andean Electric Route, Northern Electric Route, Southern Cone Electric Route and Caribbean Electric Route.
February 2024. The Caribbean Electric Route is promoting the creation of a network of chargers that enable electric vehicle travel in the Caribbean countries of Jamaica, Aruba, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
This initiative is organized by the Latin American Association for Sustainable Mobility (ALAMOS), the Dominican Electric Mobility Association, the Evergo charger platform and the Costa Rican Electric Mobility Association (ASOMOVE), which chairs ALAMOS.
“This is an effort made by the associations belonging to ALAMOS and strategic allies to have a route of chargers that allows us to mobilize with our electric vehicles. Latin America is ready and we need to promote the inclusion of more electric models in the countries of the region, more public policy and better charging management” said Silvia Rojas, president of ALAMOS.
Wellington Reyes, Evergo’s Director of Innovation, said “We are proud to celebrate the arrival of the Caribbean Electric Route at our Evergo Connect facilities, the first electric station in our region. At Evergo, we focus on connecting every point in the territories in which we operate, being the leading network of charging stations for electric vehicles in Latin America and the Caribbean. We are proud to join this initiative, with which we share the same purpose of making it easier for more and more people to travel to any destination in a sustainable way.”
The Caribbean Electric Route will be presented on February 2nd, at 10:00am there will be a caravan of electric vehicles in Punta Cana and then an event at 11:00am at Evergo Connect with authorities and key players in electric mobility.
This project is part of 5 electric routes organized by ALAMOS, the first was the Central American Electric Route in 2022, the second was the Andean Electric Route in September 2023 with Colombia, Ecuador and Peru; in October the Northern Electric Route was inaugurated, connecting Central America with Mexico, and last November the Southern Cone Electric Route was carried out, including Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Paraguay.
